A Second Chance
at Love and Death
If she remembers, he’ll kill her. If she doesn’t, she’ll die.
Waking up from the dead isn’t the worst. Not when you have a doting husband who says your memory loss is for the best. That you’re safe as long as you stay at home.
Ithunn’s spirit guardian is here to guide her through it all—by attacking her every chance he gets. Luckily, her resurrected body possesses the coveted ability to heal on a whim, a gift she can only guess at having used many times based on the scars.
But this “husband” living in the woods isn’t the man Ithunn dreams about every night. It’s memories of a handsome young prince she schemed with to gain the powers of life and death itself. After all, she doesn’t match up with the perfect housewife her strange new companion claims her to be.
Uninvited, these visions of the prince won’t leave her mind as an army approaches from the west, seeking her tiny cottage home. Memories of a promise recall in the dark: she has a duty to fulfill; a castle to return to. If only the cries of the dead would stop screaming at the edges of her mind, maybe then she could know where to run.
Ithunn thought she was the first. But if her body and mind don’t belong to her, maybe she’ll be the last. Her spirit wolf is right: Death is what she was made for.
Divine Rivals meets Nettle & Bone in a tale of trust and true love warring against sin and self-preservation. A SECOND CHANCE AT LOVE AND DEATH marks the anticipated debut of authoress Edith Hilthrup.

Welcome to a Land of Fantasy
Edith Hilthrup is an upcoming author of adult and young adult fantasy, with the occasional science fiction novel.
Hailing from the sunny shores of southern California, Edith now dwells amongst the frigid mountains in a peaceful and beautiful community.
When not hiking, Edith loves to run, babysit, and do genealogy (learning something new about her family every time!). Since she loves foreign food, cooking it herself is always approached after the manner her Scottish father taught her: substituting fancy ingredients for whatever she has on hand, resulting in bold new dishes for the dauntless adventurer.
Fun facts:
Edith used to be a night owl but is now totally an early bird.
She once broke her arm whilst roughhousing in a library.
Her favorite sports to play are ju jitsu and floor hockey.
Unlike many writers, Edith enjoys math and science, although she prefers the creative arts.
